Ishan Kishan Ruled Out of 2nd T20I vs New Zealand, Door Opens for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
India have lost wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan for the second T20I against New Zealand. He is out with a low-grade right adductor strain, and 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the obvious name to step in.
What happened
The adductors are the muscles on the inner thigh, close to the groin. Kishan hurt them during the series opener, which India still won by four wickets. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak called it a groin niggle and said Kishan was unlikely to play the next game. The injury also helps explain why Kishan batted lower down the order in the first match.
Why this matters for Sooryavanshi
Kishan’s absence opens a place in India’s top order, and the young left-hander is the natural option. He has made 246 runs in eight international innings at a strike rate of 186.36. The team management now has to decide whether to give the teenager a bigger role on this tour.
