Batters
Shubman Gill (Captain)
Gill is India’s ODI captain and the face of the post-Kohli-Rohit era. Elegant against both pace and spin, he is one of the fastest Indians to 2,000 ODI runs and scored a double century (208) against New Zealand in 2023. He is valued for his consistency at the top of the order and a calm leadership style.
Rohit Sharma
Known as “Hitman”, Rohit is the only batter with three ODI double centuries, and his 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014 remains the highest score in ODI history. A former India captain who led the side to the 2023 World Cup final, he is still among the best pullers and big-hitters in the format.
Virat Kohli
Kohli holds the record for the most ODI centuries and was Player of the Tournament at the 2023 World Cup. The master of the chase, he combines superb running between the wickets with elite fitness. His return keeps the 2027 World Cup firmly in his sights.
Yashasvi Jaiswal
A left-hander who rose from humble beginnings to become a star across formats. Jaiswal has already scored Test double centuries and made his ODI debut in 2025. His fearless strokeplay and appetite for big scores make him a long-term opening option.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
A model of timing and technique, Gaikwad hit seven sixes in one over in the 2022 Vijay Hazare Trophy, a List A first. He is a prolific run-scorer in domestic 50-over cricket and has been called up as a middle-order option in this squad.
Wicketkeeper-Batters
KL Rahul (Vice-Captain, WK)
Rahul is India’s first-choice ODI keeper and a calm finisher in the middle order, equally capable of opening. His ability to adapt his role, anchoring or accelerating as the situation demands, makes him one of the team’s most valuable players, and he now serves as vice-captain.
Dhruv Jurel (WK)
Jurel earned a reputation for staying cool in tough situations after impressive Test innings, and he is a sharp keeper behind the stumps. He is in the squad as the second wicketkeeping option and is a player to watch for the future.
All-Rounders
Ravindra Jadeja
One of India’s best all-round cricketers, Jadeja offers tight left-arm spin, useful lower-order batting and some of the best fielding in the world. A 2013 Champions Trophy and 2025 Champions Trophy winner, he brings experience and balance to the XI.
Nitish Kumar Reddy
Reddy burst onto the national scene with a memorable Test century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2024-25. He bowls useful medium-pace and hits cleanly in the middle order, and has been brought into this squad as the seam-bowling all-rounder.
Naman Dhir
Dhir received his maiden India call-up for this series. A Punjab batter who can play in the middle order or as a lower-order hitter, he is also able to chip in with off-spin. This squad is his first step at international level.
Spinner
Kuldeep Yadav
India’s premier wicket-taking spinner in ODIs, Kuldeep is one of the few Indian bowlers with two ODI hat-tricks. His variations and ability to trouble batters in the middle overs make him a key weapon.
Fast Bowlers
Mohammed Siraj
Siraj is famous for his 6/21 in the 2023 Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka, one of the great ODI spells. An aggressive new-ball bowler with a gift for swing, he leads the pace attack in this series.
Prasidh Krishna
A tall seamer who gets steep bounce, Prasidh took 4/54 on ODI debut against England in 2021. He is valued for hitting the deck hard and for his control at the death.
Gurnoor Brar
A young seamer who made an immediate impression in his first international series, taking seven wickets on debut against Afghanistan earlier this year. He is one of the exciting new faces of India’s pace pool.
Auqib Nabi
The Jammu & Kashmir pacer earned his maiden ODI call-up after being part of India’s Test squad on the Sri Lanka tour in August. A consistent performer for his state, he is a name to follow.
Other Players in the ODI Mix
Several regulars missed this particular series but remain in India’s 50-over plans, including middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, all-rounders Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya (recovering from injury), left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. We will publish separate profiles for them soon.
